Tech9 Motorsport History
Since 1993, Tech 9 has prepared various race cars to an outstanding degree of success
Primarily Porsche has been our mainstay, but we have also diversified into other marques when the right opportunity was presented. Looking back at the early 90's success in Porsche Cup, which was primarily production based cars which saw us preparing various models of Porsche, namely 944S2 and Turbo, 968, and 911 models 964 then 993.

The late 90's led to a desire to break into GT racing. It was considered at the time that the pinnacle of this type of racing was the TVR Tuscan Challenge. These cars were mighty 460bhp, weighing 860kg, and featuring some of the best drivers in the UK. It has proven that most of the front runners developed into GT drivers. 1997 saw a learning year, and with the foundations and principles of engineering these cars, in 1998 we secured the Championship win. We had engineered the car to the front of the grid, with dedication and determination, developing our own suspension dampers and limited slip differential, to give us the edge over the competition.

The turn of the millennium, saw Tech 9 breaking into British GT, and campaigns with Porsche in 993 GT2's and Marcos, with the mighty Mantara LM600, gave us new experience in endurance racing.
A season in the Carrera Cup GB in 2002, netted 2nd place overall in the championship with the 996 GT3.

2003 was really a turning point, with corporate sponsorship for the team, we embarked upon a 5 year run in GT racing, that proved to be formidable. Netting Championship and class wins in 2003, 2004 and 2005 in British GT, then turning our attention to the newly formed FIA GT3 European Championship in 2006, with a squad of three 997 GT3 Cup machines.

In 2005, a joint program of British GT and the European endurance Le-Mans (LMS ) series gave the team incredible discipline and experience that is required for these grueling 500Km races, with the 996 GT3 RS and RSR models.

2006 though, gave us our proudest moment in our Motorsport history. Winning the Team, drivers and Manufacturers Cup Championship with our incredibly talented driver Sean Edwards. Some fantastic race results, in what was deemed not to be the fastest car on the grid, with slick driving, teamwork and some great pit-stops and strategies, we secured the titles with Dimitris Deverikos and Phil Keen stepping in latterly, with Sean.

It was a very proud moment at the FIA awards in Monaco, later that year that Sean and Phil Hindley received the prestigious FIA trophies.
2007 proved to be a tough season, Tech 9 was partnered with Porsche to develop the 2006 997 GT3, into what was to become the factory built 997 GT3 Cup 'S' for the 2008 season.

2007 did have its highlights and a most comprehensive race program for the Tech 9 squad. Alongside the three FIA GT3 997 GT 3 machines, the team also entered the prestigious FIA GT2 class, with a brand new 997 GT3 RSR. Our driver line-up matched our Champion driver Sean Edwards, with young Russian charger Leo Machitski. Although Leo lacked the speed and experience of Sean, he managed some memorable stints in the car, and most notably and what can be ranked as one of the teams biggest successes was the FIA GT Spa 24hours result in 2007, when factory driver Sascha Maassen joined Leo and Sean, and an incredible P2 in the GT2 class, in what was a thrilling race event.

In the current economic climate, sadly our race team is not in operation. The finances involved to run a professional team at the level that we strive to operate is substantial, and without the vital corporate funding/backing, it is almost impossible for a private team like us to become financially viable.
Surely, in the future, we will return to our winning ways. With the right program and partner, a serious Championship winning campaign can be structured, but in the meantime, potential clients looking for race car preparation and restoration, track-day assistance and set-up development advice, can draw upon our wealth of experience and meticulous attention to detail.
